The breeder of this horse, June Day of Daybreak Ranch, Acampo, CA, told me that the streaks on the horse were referred to as "foundation spots", and were sometimes seen on horses from foundation Quarter horse breeding. I thought the streaks resembled brindling, but since the horse is also a dun factor horse, the streaks could have something to do with the interaction of the dun dilution with the primitive dun factor type markings, and I thus have to classify the horse as indeterminate at this time. However, If you breed to this stallion, I would be interested if any of his foals exhibit similar partial striping. Please report them to Sharon Batteate, PO Box 8535, Stockton, CA 95208.
